Flywheel

Founded by Clay Boardman as Augusta Capital, Flywheel was established with the belief that historic structures, with imagination and care, can be repurposed and given a new lease on life. He took his business experiences honed as CEO of Boardman Petroleum Inc., Charter Terminal Company and Charter-Triad Terminals, and applied it to historic preservation projects. The result is a string of successful rehabilitation stories that range in scope from former industrial facilities built out as commercial real estate to luxury condominiums spawned from the classrooms of a retired elementary school.

Clay serves or has served as a director on the boards of United Distributors, Music with Friends, LLC, Sixthman, LLC, MacDuff Group, First Union/Wachovia, First Bank of Augusta, Security Federal Bank, Thomson Oak Flooring, Inc. and Floor and Decor Outlets of America.

Clay is devoted to many civic causes and has served on or chaired the boards of the Community Foundation for the CSRA, Georgia Health Sciences Foundation, Augusta Preparatory Day School, America’s Warrior Partnership, Turn Back the Block, Augusta Tomorrow, FORE Augusta Foundation, Paine College, the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, Historic Augusta, Georgia Cities Foundation and the Georgia Historical Society among others.
