Houghton School
In 2005, Flywheel purchased the Houghton School in Augusta’s Olde Town Historic District. The c.1916 Spanish Eclectic building had served the community for decades, but had been vacant for several years.
In 2005, Flywheel purchased the Houghton School in Augusta’s Olde Town Historic District. The c.1916 Spanish Eclectic building had served the community for decades, but had been vacant for several years.
Flywheel gutted the building of all debris and noncontributing items, stabilized the structure, replaced the roof, replaced the windows with energy efficient replicas, and repainted the exterior.
In 2006, Flywheel sold Houghton to Heritage Academy, an urban Christian school committed to making a quality education available to children from racially, ethnically, socially and economically diverse families.
